This is my favorite song of the moment. A little bit of info courtesy of Last FM:
Fake Blood is an alias used by DJ Touché, also half of The Black Ghosts (which Touché has remixed under the Fake Blood alias). His original productions included two major club hits, “Mars” and “Blood Splashing (Fake Blood Theme)”. In 2009, He released the “Fix Your Accent” EP, including the original tracks “The Dozens”, “I Think I Like It”, and “Fix Your Accent”. He has done remixes for Dan Le Sac, Armand van Helden, The Count & Sinden, UNKLE and others.
Just wanted to share these 3 downloads that I recently found on my travels across the interwebs. Super quality tracks that should be part of every hip hop lover’s crates.
The Monday Mix series returns this week with another mix that will withstand the test of time. Super talented New York dj trio, The Rub (DJ Ayres, DJ Eleven and Cosmo Baker) has released their latest collection of tremendous remixes from one of the best collections of DJ talent in the world. Flawlessly mixed, this mix is somewhat of an education on how it’s supposed to be done. Check out the mix and more over at The Rub’s website.
90s rapper Apache, of “Gangsta Bitch”-fame, died today. His music will be remembered.
On Friday, the Apache rapper famous for the hit single “Gangsta B—-” passed away due to an “undisclosed, protracted illness”. Apache whose real name was Anthony Teaks was part of the Flavor Unit rap crew and appeared on the album “45 King Presents: The Flavor Unit”. Apache’s hit song “Gangsta B”, produced by A Tribe Called Quest, made it as high as #11 on Billboard’s Hot Rap singles back in 1992.
It’s been noted by the co-founder of Flavor Unit Records that Apache was the string that brought other famous rap acts together for the Unit including Queen Latifah and Naughty by Nature. Other groups and rappers who were in “The Unit” included Freddie Foxxx, Chill Rob G, Confidential and Lakim Shabazz.
The Apache rapper had just 1 album to his credit, 1992’s “Apache Ain’t S-” which went as high as #66 on the US charts. He also released a follow up single in 1993 “Do Fa Self”. In addition to his own albums he made guest rap appearances on albums by 2PAC, Naughty by Nature and Fat Joe.
RIP to Anthony Teaks aka Apache, whose official age is still being acquired by various sources.
The People Under the Stairs have been grinding it out on this hip hop biz for a minute. Check out this dope video for their single “Trippin’ At The Disco”
Idle Warship is the collaborative effort of Talib Kweli, Res and Graph Nobel, aimed at making you shake your booty to some fresh beats. Here’s the video for “Bedroom Lites”, the first single off their first mixtape, Party Robot.
The Kidz In The Hall haven’t had an LP release in a minute. The word on the street is that their next album “Land Of Make Believe” will be released in March 2010. To hold us over until then, they have blessed us with a free mixtape for download, “The Professional Leisure Tour” presented by L-R-G. If you feel insecure about downloading the mixtape, here’s the track “We Gone” off the mixtape to serve as your appetizer.
Jersey duo Pacewon and Mr. Green are a throwback of classic Eric B. and Rakim… They dropped this video back in November of 2009. The track is definitely worth a listen. Who said hip hop was dead?
