This week’s featured mix has been on my iPhone for months now, but after bumping it in Vegas, it reminded me how well done this mix is and how it can appeal to a wide range of music fans (obviously this was the intent since it combines 80s music smashed together with current hits).

DJ Scene goes all out in this mix, flipping samples, scratching, and showcasing his turntablism talents for all the dj nerds out there.  It’s easy to see how he’s risen to the lofty status that he has as a touring dj all across the nation, with several radio show residencies to boot.

I just got back from Vegas and the last thing I wanted to do was listen to a bunch of high energy party mixes.  Somehow this morning I ended up listening to this mix from DJ Tina T. and I gotta say, it kind of got me amped up.

I don’t know when she released her 11-year anniversary mix but it starts with west coast hip hop and covers all the rest of the party music genres too.  A common theme I find with the mixes that I choose for this series is that it always sounds like the DJ had fun while putting together the mix, and she flexes her cutting and creative skills for sure in this mix.

This week’s mix comes from DJ Bandoma, representing all of the hottest spots from Orange County to San Diego.  His latest mix “My Really Fresh Summer” starts out with some classic summer songs, moves to a mini tribute to Michael Jackson, and hits you with a ton of great house music.  He also manages to show off his ridiculous scratching skills throughout the mix, adding to the already great programming.

I had never heard of Lanu before I headed over to Wax Poetics to check out some soulful cuts.  To quote the bio on his website:
