The Genesis

the-genesis

I remember badly wanting a Sega Genesis as a kid.  I wanted to be the one that owned the next thing on the market before anyone else in my circle of friends (my cousin Win had the NES before me) so I bugged the shit out my Dad to cop me one around my birthday.  After stating my case and pledging to keep my grades up, he finally caved in.

I got a Sega Genesis along with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Taz-Mania for my birthday.

Maybe that’s why this post from the good folks at Mad Decent brought such a smile to my face.  It reminds me of my more innocent times begging for the latest and greatest in video game consoles and what not.

Here, we get a look at a similar childhood wanting a Sega Genesis badly for X-mas.

My Brother is back home where I grew up for Xmas already(Shout out to the Port Alberni Massive!!!!). Usually when we go back home we find old records we forgot about or old home videos but this time Erik found my old Xmas Lists, he scanned them and sent them my way.

J*** In My Pants

I’ve always been a big fan of the Lonely Island dudes, Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Shaffer.  They’ve always made me laugh with their internet shorts on YouTube.  And Hot Rod is arguably one of the funniest movies ever.

Seriously, one of the best things to happen to SNL of recent years are the SNL Digital Shorts, which they write, direct and produce.  Who could forget last year’s classic, Dick in a Box?  That shit was genius!

Knowing that the three dudes work together on each of the Digital Shorts makes me feel bad sometimes because Jorma and Akiva are equally as funny as Andy, as proven with their YouTube hits like Just 2 Guyz and the Bing Bong Brothers, yet never appear in the SNL segments.  Or at least they don’t appear prominently.  Cue in the latest video from the boys…

This latest video as Jorma sharing an equal amount of camera time as Andy, and Akiva is pretty visible as the DJ, as they electro-rap what it’s like to be overly excited in day to day life.

Oh, and make sure you watch Hot Rod.  That shit never gets old.
